Study: Digital training as an opportunity

02.08.2022

A recent study on the topic of "Motivation to learn during unemployment" came to the conclusion that over three quarters of the more than 1000 participants in the study who are currently looking for work are motivated to attend further training: Many use the time to think about their professional future, hope for an interesting job and want to continue their education. Although motivation is high, only 18.2% are actually taking part in further training or have registered. What could support the remaining interested parties in their learning process? Over half (53.3 %) of those surveyed stated that it was important for them to have a fixed contact person during further training. For many (41.1%), the exchange with other people in the group is also a key factor for successful continuing education.

The "Unemployment Trend Study" from 2021 with 1900 participants came to similar conclusions: Around half of those surveyed stated that they hoped to improve their chances on the job market through further training and be able to work more flexibly thanks to the skills they had acquired. A third wanted to reorient themselves professionally with the help of further training: They are particularly interested in sectors that will also be relevant in the labor market of the future: Further training in IT and technology is particularly in demand.

Interest in further training is therefore high - but two thirds of those surveyed doubt that they will find a suitable offer: Many cite the distance of the offerings from their place of residence as an obstacle and would like to see digital further training opportunities. Some expressed doubts about the relevance of the course content - a concern that is unfounded at the further education company alfatraining: at alfatraining, the content is always adapted to the current conditions and requirements of industry and business and is taught in an easy-to-understand way by highly qualified lecturers with practical experience.

The courses take place remotely in a virtual classroom using the alfaview video conferencing software: Here, all course participants and lecturers are connected live with audio and video and can communicate with each other in real time. Participants can therefore also attend the courses from home - making it possible to take part in courses even in rural areas without long commutes and travel times. Thanks to alfaview, there is still contact with the other course participants and individual support from the lecturers and the entire training team, who are available to participants at all times.
